The National Aboriginal Council of Midwives is hosting the 14th annual Gathering of Indigenous midwives and student midwives on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, NS), 8am-8pm at the Mi'kmaq Child Development Centre and the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship CentreWe encourage you to stay in town until Sunday, October 27th to facilitate extended time visiting and sharing.

This year’s theme will be Lighting the Eastern Fire. We will take time to look at supporting the growth and sustainability of Indigenous midwifery on the East Coast. We will also continue to focus on our vision for Indigenous midwifery education: Where there are services there will be education. The Gathering is open to NACM members only, specifically, midwives and student midwives who identify as Indigenous, Aboriginal, First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit.  If you are not yet a member of NACM, please fill out the new member form at https://indigenousmidwifery.ca/members/. There is no fee to attend the Gathering. Travel and hotel accommodation costs are not covered by NACM at this time.

Also in Kjipuktuk, there will be NACM events runnings from October 23-25, 2019.
